Meet Teddy

We've been looking at dogs for a long time because Mikayla all of a sudden showed interest in getting one.  She has been terrified of dogs for a long time so we thought we'd better jump at the chance while it was there.  We've shown her tons of pictures of dogs (gone to the pound to look and even met one dog that we almost took home) and usually she gives the "nay" for them.  On Sunday Dustin found a Craigslist ad for a scraggly little thing that looked like something Mikayla would like.  He took the picture in and woke her up to show her.  She didn't even hesitate and said she liked the dog a lot.  They went late that night to meet Teddy and it was all Mikayla could talk about.  Dustin's dreams of a big slobbery dog are going to have to wait a few years because Mikayla was attached...We went last night to Wal-Mart to get the essentials and plenty of accessories for the poor dog and then to pick him (note: yes, it is a "he" despite what the accessories may indicate) up.
If you know Mikayla you know this genuine smile with a dog on her lap is HUGE!
Mikayla was so excited when she saw the Halloween costume stand for dogs at Wal-Mart.  She wanted tutus and clown wigs for poor Teddy.  We settled on a pink hat and a red rhinestone collar.  This guy stands no chance around her!  He's even had a ponytail already.  Oh, the shame!
Mikayla loves him.  Teddy adores Mikayla.  He follows her around everywhere and lays on her lap when she sits down.  It is the perfect arrangement.
Much to our surprise Maylee, who usually loves dogs, isn't so fond of him.  He's nibbled on her ears a couple of times and I'm sure that's why.  She loves to play with him through the sliding glass door though!
I'm not sure what we've gotten ourselves into.  He's only 6 months old and definitely still a puppy.  Overall he is very calm and just the right size for our girls.  Not exactly what we pictured for a dog, but what needed to happen!

Work Day

Mikayla came into our room just before 6 on Saturday asking me if I was ready to work outside?  She looks forward to Saturdays when Dad is home so much and knows that when Dad's home it means it's time to work outside.
Mikayla picked out Maylee's work outfit.  It was pretty impressive.
Gotta have a side view to complete the picture.
This is Maylee's new favorite trick.  She's been pointing for a while, but last week she starting saying "oook!" (look) while she points at everything under the sun.
This is pretty much what "work" days look like.  Dustin works while under good supervision.

It's Hard to Be Important

Mikayla is a pretty important gal.  She's a princess, she runs a doctor's office, she has two homes to keep up (one in AZ and one in UT), she has to put on make-up multiple times a day to keep up her royal appearances (and try to convince her sister that she should look beautiful, too!), visiting and teaching assignments come around most days, she has to keep her trike filled up on gas, finding the right pair of shoes to go along with all her accessories can be a big chore, she organizes papers all day and still can never find the one she needs...the list could go on and on-she is a busy lady!
Yes, it's tough to be her!

Fruit Queen

Maylee loves fruit.  If it's on her plate she'll eat it before anything else and would prefer that there be nothing else on her plate most of the time.  Kiwis are the only fruit we've found she doesn't like so far.

Boy's Room

I wanted to surprise Dustin and decorate the boy's room.  It has always been our dumping room and I wanted to make it into something fun for our new little guy. The room is pretty small and hard to get pictures of so hopefully you can tell what is what.

Here is the room before:

The picture collage is of some of baby boy's grandpas and uncles in their western gear.  I ran out of paint for the letter so it will get finished later.
Can't wait for our little man to join us!
