One fish, two fish...

My Dad had work off on Monday and we were informed by the boys that they were going fishing on Monday morning and that us girls would be going with them. :) Off we went to Grandpa's pond and it turned out to be a really fun morning. The weather was perfect and the pond was so pretty.
If you're going to go fishing, you gotta do it in style! I love how you can see our reflections in her glasses.
Dad and Dustin were a little competitive about who was catching the most fish, but it ended up in a 5-5 tie, which is a good thing!
Dustin showing off his prize fish (as Grandpa would say, "Dumb Bass #1")
Dad and his catch (Dumb Bass #2)
Auntie Maren also caught a fish, but it got away before she could unhook it (Dumb Bass #11)
As for Mikayla and I, we weren't quite so successful, but we didn't last very long, either. Mammy came to see Mikayla while we were in town and DeeDee took over the fishing pole and enjoyed it more than I would have, but Mikayla and I made a great team while it lasted. :)
Mikayla seeing a fish for the first time and trying to pet it as anyone would do.
Not sure which number this Dumb Bass was...
Thanks, Grandpa, for letting us use your pond!
To end the day, a cute picture taken on the ride home (taken right before her major temper tantrum!).

Flower Power!

We did tie dye on Monday for Family Home Evening and Mikayla's onesie turned out awesome! We still need to get a picture of Dustin's shirt and mine is currently in the remaking, but enjoy some pictures of the flower power child in the meantime!

Fun in the Sun

Okay, so maybe our little "albino baby" does a whole lot better in the shade than the sun, but we've still been enjoying the outdoors a lot more lately now that we are out of the apartment and actually have room to breathe non-smokey cigarette filled air. It is amazing and Mikayla loves to be outside.

Lots of pictures to follow, but I just couldn't pick out only one or two to post so enter at your own risk...

In this first one we'd gone swimming earlier in the day and I think the sunscreen got in her poor little eyes and they just watered and watered, but despite what the eyes show, she really was enjoying herself!
Dustin has been enjoying the grill and trying all kinds of new veggies grilled and they are so yummy.
There are a lot of these pictures, but Auntie Maren and Dustin decided to surprise my Dad for Father's Day (thanks to Auntie Maren's "I'm going to go pull weeds" idea) and totally cleaned out the backyard. Mikayla was in charge of supervision and was very good at it!
Going swimming in style! Unfortunately, I didn't get video of the hula dance that took place with Dustin and Mikayla right before this shot. It was special, to say the least!
Loving the hammock at Grandad and Nanny Jill's house!
Typical scene around our house...the camera flash is Mikayla's best friend, thanks to me.
Hanging out with Auntie Maren. At least the heat adds some color to Mikayla's cheeks!
Enjoying tummy time on the lawn...
And, at last, her favorite new discovery...the yumminess of one's toes.

Blast from the Past

When Dustin and I were packing up our apartment we each found our old buddies in our boxes of keepsakes. Dustin found his beloved Benjamin the bear and I found my favorite doll, Jocelyn, that went everywhere with me. We took a picture of Mikyala with them and I LOVE it!
We went to St. David last weekend for David's HS graduation and here are a couple of my favorites from the weekend.
Mikayla with her Mammy...
And her Pappy...
And her Daddy...are that many names with "-y" endings allowed?!
Lots of fun with the cousins, too. Colt loved showing her how his exer-saucer worked.
This stroller is amazing. It's supposed to fit two kids, but it holds all three cousins no problem-o and they all love riding in it.
And finally, the whole reason for the big gathering...Uncle David's high school graduation. We are so proud of you, Uncle Bubba!

Life with the Bumbo

The Bumbo. What can I say? I thought it was the craziest thing before we had Mikayla, but now we love it. Mikayla loves it. What’s not to like? Mikayla loves to sit up and has been able to sit up in the Bumbo since she was about 8 weeks old. It's awesome. I was laughing on Sunday because that day alone Mikayla was in the Bumbo for a bunch of random things, but was having a blast all day long. What a lifesaver it is! Thank you, Tamara and Sister Brown for the amazing gift!

On Sunday Mikayla and the Bumbo:
1. Helped Auntie Maren play the piano
2. Helped Mom make granola (she LOVES to sit in it while I cook or do dishes and watches my every move!)
3. Helped her Dad get her ready for church...wearing her "crown" and all!
4. Helped Dad get ready for Church
Other common uses for the Bumbo....chillin on a Sunday afternoon
Eating dinner with Mom and Dad (notice the hearty All-American homemade meal)
Helping Dad pack up the storage room
Helping Mom pack up the house
Even though these are older pics, you can't forget that Bumbos are great for playing cards and going on wagon rides as well. :)
