A mini before and after.

I saw this kitchen makeover and decided I wanted to try doing a vinyl backsplash in our kitchen and I'm excited about the way it turned out!
Before:
After:
The pictures aren't the greatest, but at least you can kind of get the idea.  It's simple, but I like the character it adds to the kitchen.  It'll give me something different to look at for a while when I cook.  The best part is I can take it off whenever I want!

Our 2 month chunk!

At 2 months Maylee is:
13 pounds 3 ounces (95th percentile)
23 1/2 inches long (90th percentile)
Head circumference 41 cm (90th percentile)

Some really random things about our little gal:
She is a really mellow baby and a fantastic snuggler.  As long as she's in someone's arms she's happy.  Please don't grow out of cuddling too fast, Maylee!  It's my favorite!
If she's awake she wants to eat.  She eats anywhere from 4-7 ounces in a sitting.
She started smiling and cooing!  It makes my day when I randomly hear her start to coo and look over to see her smiling away at me.
It takes s lot of work to get a smile out of her if it's not her idea.
But, it's totally worth it!  I love how she sticks out her tongue when she smiles.  I'm pretty sure I could kiss those cheeks all day long!
She loves baths.
And I am in love with her double chin.
This is her favorite way to sleep...
Face planted on my lap.  She is a fantastic sleeper at night and only wakes up once (some nights not until 5 or 6 am!  AMAZING!!!), but during the day most of the time she refuses to nap unless she is being held.  Every few days she'll sneak in a good nap in her bed and it is total bliss!
This is the way she feels about being put down most of the time.  Luckily she is starting to get to where she'll let us put her down for a few minutes at a time and she will entertain herself.  It's okay though-it gives she and I lots of cuddle time and Mikayla and I get lots of time to read books together while Maylee sleeps on my chest.  Nothing too shabby about that.
She's in size 3-6 months clothes and leaning a little more heavily (no pun intended) on the 6 month side of things.
She's a fan of the pacifier to help herself fall asleep and I am a fan of her eyes that immediately start to get heavy and sleepy when I give it to her.
She's pretty much just totally adorable with all of her chunkiness.  I'm loving every minute with her.

If friends were boogers I'd pick you.

Mikayla has decided that when Maylee cries it's her duty to stick her finger in Maylee's mouth.  I'm not sure why that's the choice over stinking the pacifier in her mouth, but it is.

On Saturday Mikayla was holding Maylee on the couch and I had a moment of braveness or something of the sort and left them there for two minutes while I fixed Maylee a bottle (the couch is literally 3 feet away from the kitchen in case you were feeling concerned).  Maylee started to cry, but quickly stopped so I went to see what was up since she isn't the best at consoling herself most of the time.  I found the two of them staring off into space, happy and content-with Mikayla's finger just hanging out in Maylee's NOSE (thinking it was in Maylee's mouth).  Mikayla was so proud of herself for being a helper and it was all I could do to keep from busting up laughing at the two of them.  All I can say is that it was hilarious.  Words don't even do the story justice.  I only wish I'd gotten a picture.

Life with sisters is awesome and for them it's only beginning!

Sometimes bad things happen to good people.

Don't let these pictures scare you off...there are new cute pictures in several posts below...

How sweet it is!

And, in case you were wondering, sometimes when you are two years old no shirt and a million pictures are requirements when eating a popsicle.

It's amazing what a little jealousy will do!

Jealousy can make you do some pretty crazy things.  Things like pretend you actually acknowledge your baby sister exists when your mom is trying to take pictures of her.
"Me hold May May's hand, Mom!"
"Me hold her peese?"
"Me dude it!"
Seriously-99% of the time Mikayla wants nothing to do with Maylee.  She's just on spit-up patrol and freaks out if Maylee makes a mess when she spits up.  I whip out the camera to take a picture of Maylee and all of a sudden Mikayla is not only Maylee's caretaker, but her best friend.  Amazing.  Thank you, Mikayla, my "big helpa"!

Something about the way you look at me...

I am in love with Maylee's eyes.  I'm pretty sure you can catch a glimpse of eternity when she looks at you.  I could stare at her eyes for forever.

So it begins!

Matching!
I had to laugh at how close the faces they make are in some of these pictures.
Definitely sisters!
Maylee was a willing participant in the picture party...
Mikayla-not so much.

Blessed

Maylee was blessed in church yesterday by her Dad.  It was a perfect day and we were so blessed to have many family members and friends come share it with us.  Her beautiful dress was made by my Aunt Kim and the lace on it is from my Mom's wedding dress.  It turned out better than I could have imagined and I loved the sentimental value it had.
We are sure spoiled with our family being so supportive of us.  Family is everything to us.
Grandparents and great-grandparents.
There are a lot of pictures of Maylee to come, but I figured that since it was her special day it's only fitting to show her off a little bit!

After church we came back to our house and had brunch for everyone.  We decided to do a Belgian waffle bar and these four (Aunt Suzy, Mom, Maren, and Jake who is hiding behind Maren) were our stellar helpers and made waffles up the wazoo for everyone.
I made these little shoes for Maylee out of the fabric from her dress.  I am no seamstress, but I love little baby feet in shoes.
Dustin's mom told me at church that Maylee looked like a princess and I just had the overwhelming confirmation and reminder that it is because she truly is a princess!  These amazing spirits come straight from Heaven where they sit at the feet of the Father and King of us all.  They are children of divinity.

We are the ones who are truly blessed to have them in our lives.  Thank you, Maylee, for choosing to join our family!
