Awesome Surprise Visit!

Dustin was supposed to work Saturday, but he got everything done he need to on Friday and showed up with donuts in hand early Saturday morning.  We were so excited to see him and had an awesome fun-filled day with him!
Bed party!  One of Mikayla's most favorite things to do.
"Maylee-are you feeding the ducks or yourself?"     -Grandad
Grandad checking the water in style.
Replacing the microwave.  It was a good thing Nana left during this process and a really good thing I was there for supervision!

Next up was dying Easter eggs!
Then we had a Easter picnic and egg hunt in the river.
Grandpa Kartchner was her helper for the egg hunt and I loved watching the two of them together.  She has no idea how lucky she is to spend so much time with her great grandparents.
Why is it the first thing kids do when they see a green jelly bean is stick it in their nose?

Marm Vacation

Dustin has been working long hours and Saturdays lately so the girls and I decided to head to the Marm early for our Easter weekend.  My parents were really good sports and put up with us and we had a blast!

Here are some of the highlights.

Early morning story time with Grandad.
Chasing Toby.  He deserves whatever Maylee gives him!
" We're matchers! Pens in our heads!"
This girl finally discovered the art of tower building!
The favorite Marm toy is the water table.
Cookies and milk with Grandad and the boys.
Eating 10 pounds of dirt a day.
Playing in the sprinkler on the mud lawn.
Nana was the hero and got Mikayla to play in it.
This girl always has her undies backward.  They are usually inside out, too.
Maylee hated the sprinkler and went back to eating dirt instead.
Dance party in the mess.
Making cookies!  Mikayla set naked Big Barbie (Chrissy) on the counter and informs us "Usually we wear clothes when we bake."
Playing doctor.
Cowgirl!  She is wearing my Dearie's old hat.
Mikayla running the backhoe by herself!

Revamp

The Barbie house got a face lift yesterday.  It needed it after nearly 20 years of being loved!

Chillin' on a Sunday Morning

Do you see Mikayla's eye?  Dustin was pretty proud of this shot and I love it, too!

Playset

Dustin got a playset for his birthday present.  The girls lucked out on that one!

We've spent the last week and a half painting in the evening and all day Saturday to stain and seal the million and one boards that came with this thing.  It was RIDICULOUS.  Almost as ridiculous as how many pieces are in the hardware box.
This is a tiny portion of how many boards there are.  I can't even tell you how many times we filled up these canvases over and over with boards to paint.  With a double coat.  On all sides.
Auntie Maren came to help us on Saturday, too, and she was a lifesaver.  We never dreamed we could actually get it done by Saturday.  Thank goodness!  I wanted to cry every time we had to go out and paint.  And that's coming from someone who doesn't mind painting!
This box babysat our kids during painting sessions.
And the girls helped by painting with water for us (one of Mikayla's favorite outside things to do).
Thanks to Mom and Dad being busy we now have these adorable painted footprints on our sidewalk.  I kind of secretly hope they never go away!

Now it's on to the fun part for Dustin...putting the crazy thing together!
I hope he really enjoys his time with this box of hardware and this instruction novel!
