January

It's been a crazy month and I have tons of pictures to prove it!

We threw Auntie Maren a baby shower!  It was a fun shower, but also kind of a bummer because a lot of the people who said they were coming didn't show up.  There was a lot of good food, we had a bow making table that was a hit, and Maren received some nice gifts for her little gal.
Some of Maren's old clothes with pictures of her in the outfits next to them.
The white dress is the blessing dress that belonged to Dearie.  Maren and I both wore it on our blessing days.
This picture cracks me up.  Maylee went shopping with Maren and picked this out for her.
Honor Roll for this gal!
We've worked like crazy to get our house ready to go on the market and it is officially for sale!  Since we've had to be out of the house more for the open house, etc. and to actually keep the house clean more than a few minutes at a time we've done some fun outings lately.
On the day of the open house we celebrated Mikayla's birthday a little early. First stop was donuts, then we have been talking about going to the butterfly exhibit at the botanical garden for a long time so we finally did it. She has been learning about butterflies in school and was ecstatic that we just happened to see three butterflies emerge out of their chrysalis'.
Daxton learning to pose from his sisters.
Mikayla had a blast celebrating the 100th day of school by dressing up like a 100 year old lady.  The school had a parade and it was really fun to watch all the cute kids looking like old people or wearing 100 of something.  We got some readers at the dollar store for her to wear, but she wouldn't wear them on the end of her nose.  She fell in love with them and wears them all the time now and looks SO cute in them!
We took our crazy boy in for his 2 year appointment and talked with the pediatrician about some of the concerns we have for him (crying/screaming for literally hours on end and won't be consoled, banging his head, delayed speech, problems sleeping well, etc.).  After listening to all our concerns she did her exam and found that his tonsils were quite large.  He's always had tons of wax in his ears, which has made it really hard to ever get a good exam to see if there's anything going on with them.  Between those two things we are now headed to the ENT.  Our pediatrician thinks a lot of his problems may be ear/tonsil related.  While it sounds terrible to hope that is the answer, we are hoping just that.  It would be a much easier solution to his problems than other diagnoses would be.  If his ear/nose/throat issues aren't ones that the ENT feels need to be addressed we will look into other causes for his troubles.
And in our free time, our most favorite moments are having some good old fun hanging out at home.
Mikayla "fixed" Daxton's hair cut for me...
One night everyone else had fallen asleep so I got Maylee out of bed for an ice cream date on the kitchen floor.  She thought it was pretty spectacular.
I don't usually take pictures of our food, but Dustin told me this one had to have a picture.  We made a pretty delicious grilled chicken alfredo pizza for dinner one night.
And last, but not least, this Little Lady turned 6!

Daxton is 2!

We kept things pretty low key for Daxton's birthday since it was on a Sunday, but he loved being sang to and telling everyone "Happy Birthday!"  We had grandparents and uncles over for dessert that night.  He got a car mat and some old Hot Wheels cars that he couldn't love more.
The week before his birthday and Christmas I decided to shave Daxton's head since his hair grows so fast and was super long.  Well, I forgot to put the attachment on the clippers so he got more of a haircut than he bargained for.  Every time he sees pictures of his hair cut he says "Hurt hurt hurt.  Ow ow ow."  I was seriously ready to bawl when I did it because it was so terrible.  It's already growing out a lot, but here are some pictures pre-botched hair of him at 2.
And just a random picture of our kids in their work outside outfits because I love it!

Christmas!

Each year I think Christmas can't possibly get any better and each year it is more and more fun!  This year we had Christmas at my parent's house and it was a blast!

Christmas Eve after we did some caroling we had our traditional nativity.  Mikayla wanted to be the "reading star" (as in the nativity star that told the story of Christ's birth) and Maylee wanted to be an angel. That left Dustin and I as Mary and Joseph with Daxton as a donkey.  My Mom and Dad were good sports and were a wiseman and a shepherd.  Right as Mikayla began telling the story Maylee, standing on a chair, announced "I peed my pants!!!!"  It was hilarious.  The show carried on and we all kept giggling the whole time.  Our poor little angel's boots were filled with pee and she was such a good sport to stand there for a few minutes while the nativity played out.  Good memories!
Christmas Eve jammies, sibling book swap, and Grandad reading "The Night Before Christmas" ended our night...then Santa came!
Santa brought the girls old fashioned kid sized roll top desks.  They are a HUGE hit!  Mikayla wanted to know why the desks had some stain marks on them and we told her the elves must have used recycled wood.  She is super into recycling paper, bottles, etc. to make her own creations so that totally made sense to her.  Phew!
Daxton finally got a man colored tricycle so he doesn't have to use a pink and purple one all the time.  I'm thinking he was pretty happy with the pink and purple one after seeing the look on his face here.
Since Mom and Dad don't buy toys that make noise Santa spoiled Daxton with a police car and firetruck that make noise.  He would've been happy with those two things and nothing else at all for Christmas.  He LOVES them!
The nativity Mikayla made for my Mom.
