January

We moved out of the basement and I have internet that works well again (most of the time, anyway), so here goes some updating on our blog.  Here's some monthly updates to get started again...

Aunt DeeDee threw a princess party for the girls and they loved it, but toward the end my non-girly girl, Maylee, asked if she could PLEASE just go play outside!
Maylee thought for sure it snow here on Christmas, but no such luck.  Their amazing Daddy took a cooler to work one day when he knew he would be hiking where it had snowed and brought some home in an Igloo for them to play with.
Mikayla made this drawing for me: "Every mom need a rest".  Amen, sister!
Maya ended up with bronchitis and was super sick.  It was so sad!  She could hardly breathe, but she was still the happiest baby ever!
Daxton started sunbeams!
Mikayla turned 7!

Maya's Blessing

Maya was blessed on January 1.  Her day was perfect.  When she received her name during the blessing her name was given as "Maya Lou Blessing Hancock".  I was totally shocked when I heard the extra name, Blessing, given, but there couldn't be a better name for her.  She is truly a blessing in our lives, a miracle.

Daxton's Birthday

Daxton turned 3!  Our pancake and peanut butter loving most stubborn kid alive has grown up so much in the last few weeks.  He is still definitely 3, but when I look back over the past year I can see a lot of improvement in his tantrums being less often, his speech improving, and he is just over all much happier.  Getting his tonsils out and tubes put in this last year was one of the greatest blessings ever. Daxton is a funny car loving, bodily function obsessed and bad guy wanna be boy.  Here's to another year of learning how little boys work in a house full of girls!

Christmas

Christmas was a little different this year because Grandpa Kartchner passed away on Christmas Eve.  While we were sad for his loss, we were also very grateful for how close heaven seemed during Christmas.  The presents and excitement were wonderful, but being together with loved ones was the greatest gift of all.  I don't know how it's possible that Christmas gets better every year, but somehow it does!
Dustin surprised me and got me this tricycle.  I opened it and couldn't stop laughing my head off because it was so unexpected and crazy.  Definitely one of my favorite presents ever!
Grandma Kartchner got all the ladies and kids these awesome socks.  None of them match and each of the kids' came with an extra sock in their set for when one gets lost.
The girls got make-up kits, hence all the black eyes in the pictures.  Probably the worst idea ever, but man they LOVE those things!

Christmas Eve

Dustin made a manger to put under the tree for the kids to play their dolls with during the Christmas season.  We discovered it was the perfect size for Maya so we reenacted the nativity story with Maya as our baby Jesus.
Christmas Eve was at Mammy and Pappy's house this year.  We had a wonderful dinner, acted out the nativity, opened Christmas jammies, and sang Christmas carols, then the dads wrestled with the kids to wear them out for Santa to come!
