Camping in the Mountains!

We went to Mt. Graham to camp with Dustin's family this past weekend and had a great time.  Mikayla was so excited to camp in the mountains and then even more excited when she discovered there was a forest on the mountains like in Mammy's backyard!  Maylee ate more dirt, rocks, pine needles, and who knows what else than I can even describe.  She had horrid diapers for three days straight afterward, but she had the time of her life being outside constantly for a couple of days.  We were lucky to enjoy 50 degree weather, greenery and rain for a change while we were up there.  It was a fast trip, but we packed in lots of family time and loved it.

The Insane Zoo Trip

Mikayla has been doing the library's summer reading program and earned a zoo pass for their annual zoo party.  We were excited for a family day (and half price admission for adults to the zoo) and headed off on our adventures to get to the zoo by opening time.  Apparently every other family in Pima County had the same plan for the day.
This was the line to get into the zoo.  It only got longer and longer after I took the picture. Seriously insane!
Our sun/heat loving girls!
We decided to hit up the splash pad first thing before everyone else made their way there.  We were glad we did!  We had it almost to ourselves.
Mikayla got so excited when she saw the "costumes".  She actually asked to go see them and wanted a picture with them.  If you know Mikayla, that is totally unlike her.  We are making huge progress with her on the braveness scale and we are so excited for her to be stepping out of her shell.
Face painting!  Of all things Mikayla requested a green starfish.
Arm painting!
This is the best picture I got of Mikayla's starfish and Maylee's flamingo.
Mikayla's only request of the day was to see the zebras.  Each time we go she has one thing she wants to see.  Usually it's the chickens or the ducks.  We were happy for a "real" zoo animal request this time!
Back to the splash pad for round two and Maylee was in heaven having a bunch of older boys to play with.  She seriously jumped right in and acted like she was one of them.

After that we went out to eat at Eegee's to get slushies to cool off.  It was a perfect family outing.  Mikayla told me later that it had been a "real nice day".  That's what it's all about!

Randomness of Late

We've kind of been hiding out inside a lot because it is so stinkin' HOT!  Mikayla's favorite outfit right now is her bathing suit and she goes for a swim in her little pool most days to cool off.  She'd be in the pool all day long if she could.
The girls have been fighting quite often, but sometimes there are moments of playing together and I love hearing them giggling with each other.  This is what wrestling looks like around here.
Maylee gets the idea.  Mikayla not so much.
Maylee is getting more and more teeth.  I just love her toothy smile!
Mikayla and I set up a Barbie hair salon one day and afterward she ran and got a blanket for a backdrop and insisted on taking a picture of everyone.  We had the Barbie hair looking awesome for about 10 minutes before Mikayla informed me that "Chrissy has dreadlocks again, Mom!"
One hot morning we took a trip to Kohl's because Mikayla loves to try on shoes their so we cruised the shoes, clothes and toys for a couple of hours.  Mikayla went around telling me all the great prices of everything while I fought Maylee who kept crawling out of the cart.  I was beat by the time we walked out of there!  The girls walked away with matching skirts, thanks to Mikayla's great bargain hunting skills, and I tried to get a picture of them in their skirts together.  They were NOT interested, thanks.
The picture below may look all cute and loving, but what's really happening is they are pushing each other over trying to steal each other's bows and trying to push the other off the couch.  I don't know how we got a smile out of the situation.
Movies are a must when temps are over 110 degrees.  This was family movie night and picnic in the family room.  Maylee took off in her seat and decided to travel the world as a hermit crab.
"Look Mom! I getting married!"

That's it for today's randomness!
