Snip Snip!

Maylee has found her calling in life as a professional paper cutter/confetti maker.  All the pieces of confetti around the house on a daily basis makes it really hard to keep the house show ready all the time, but she loves it and it keeps her busy for hours at a time!  I saw an idea on Pinterest to tie some scissors to a bucket to try and contain some of the mess and it actually helps a little bit, but man she can cut a lot!  And in case you're wondering about her choice of clothing in these pictures Maylee informed me that she was going to wear jammies for 100 days.  And she probably will.

February

Selling our house and keeping it spotless day in and day out has taken over the last couple of months.   We had an offer come in the middle of February, but it was contingent on how the house appraised-if it appraised lower than the offer than we had the choice whether we would sell for the low price or put it back on the market.  Luckily, we found out yesterday it appraised for asking price and it is set to close April 15 so we feel like we can breathe again!  Now I am trying to catch up with the rest of my life, like the blog, that has been neglected while the house was on the market.  Here's most of February in pictures...

Daxton.  This kid kept us busy on the days leading up to his surgery.  Not only is he a full of life 2 year old anyway, but he was super angry all the time.  Between not sleeping and being in pain all the time, he was just hard to deal with.  His surgery date was set for 2/17 and we looked forward to the hope that it would help him become a happier kiddo.  I'll do a separate post on his surgery.
Daxton REALLY wanted a part in trying on Easter dresses.  He thought it was SO cool.  The poor kid really needs a brother!
"Mrs. Gibson" plays school every day when she gets home from school.  She can talk to her "class" by herself for literally hours at a time.  It's impressive.

Tucson Gem and Mineral Show.
Marm trip with Grandad for Maylee.
Rodeo Days at school.
Sandwich shop for dinner, thanks to the girls and Dustin.
Maren and Jake's baby, Evelyn, was born!  All the kids are smitten, but Maylee especially loves Evelyn.  She is forever wanting to hold her and feed her.
Lots of work days around the house!

Daddy Daughter Dance

A few weeks ago Mikayla's school had their Daddy Daughter Dance.  Mikayla was ecstatic to go on a date with her Dad and had the time of her life.  They went to In 'N Out for dinner, then danced the night away until 8:30 when she was practically falling asleep dancing (the kids are usually asleep by 7!).  It's hard to party until all hours of the night!

Missy Mae is 6!

Mikayla has been so excited about her birthday!  She loves any day she can be in the spotlight!  Her requests were crepes for breakfast, mashed potatoes for dinner, and cinnamon rolls with Reese's for dessert.
We let her open one present that morning so she could help make breakfast with her new kid's knife set.  We were joking about her going to school and telling everyone she got knives for her birthday!
She is super scared of fire so it was all she could do to sit by her birthday candle.
I was happy her birthday was on a Sunday so that she could have time to just play and be a kid instead of going to school and doing homework!  After dinner she made up a couple of games for us to play, then opened presents.  Giving her gifts is really a lot of fun because she gets SO excited about everything!
Mammy made her a really adorable apron!
Our 6 year old!  She is completely full of life, has the most giving heart, and is such a good kid.

January

It's been a crazy month and I have tons of pictures to prove it!

We threw Auntie Maren a baby shower!  It was a fun shower, but also kind of a bummer because a lot of the people who said they were coming didn't show up.  There was a lot of good food, we had a bow making table that was a hit, and Maren received some nice gifts for her little gal.
Some of Maren's old clothes with pictures of her in the outfits next to them.
The white dress is the blessing dress that belonged to Dearie.  Maren and I both wore it on our blessing days.
This picture cracks me up.  Maylee went shopping with Maren and picked this out for her.
Honor Roll for this gal!
We've worked like crazy to get our house ready to go on the market and it is officially for sale!  Since we've had to be out of the house more for the open house, etc. and to actually keep the house clean more than a few minutes at a time we've done some fun outings lately.
On the day of the open house we celebrated Mikayla's birthday a little early. First stop was donuts, then we have been talking about going to the butterfly exhibit at the botanical garden for a long time so we finally did it. She has been learning about butterflies in school and was ecstatic that we just happened to see three butterflies emerge out of their chrysalis'.
Daxton learning to pose from his sisters.
Mikayla had a blast celebrating the 100th day of school by dressing up like a 100 year old lady.  The school had a parade and it was really fun to watch all the cute kids looking like old people or wearing 100 of something.  We got some readers at the dollar store for her to wear, but she wouldn't wear them on the end of her nose.  She fell in love with them and wears them all the time now and looks SO cute in them!
We took our crazy boy in for his 2 year appointment and talked with the pediatrician about some of the concerns we have for him (crying/screaming for literally hours on end and won't be consoled, banging his head, delayed speech, problems sleeping well, etc.).  After listening to all our concerns she did her exam and found that his tonsils were quite large.  He's always had tons of wax in his ears, which has made it really hard to ever get a good exam to see if there's anything going on with them.  Between those two things we are now headed to the ENT.  Our pediatrician thinks a lot of his problems may be ear/tonsil related.  While it sounds terrible to hope that is the answer, we are hoping just that.  It would be a much easier solution to his problems than other diagnoses would be.  If his ear/nose/throat issues aren't ones that the ENT feels need to be addressed we will look into other causes for his troubles.
And in our free time, our most favorite moments are having some good old fun hanging out at home.
Mikayla "fixed" Daxton's hair cut for me...
One night everyone else had fallen asleep so I got Maylee out of bed for an ice cream date on the kitchen floor.  She thought it was pretty spectacular.
I don't usually take pictures of our food, but Dustin told me this one had to have a picture.  We made a pretty delicious grilled chicken alfredo pizza for dinner one night.
And last, but not least, this Little Lady turned 6!
