Suggestions...

O.K. all you moms out there-I need ideas.  I feel like Mikayla and I do the same thing day in and day out.  What kinds of things do you do with your kiddos during the day that they like?  Mikayla is only 1, but I'll take any ideas I can get.  I made Play Doh yesterday thinking it would be so fun, but she just ate all of it.  The dogs wouldn't even eat it so I'm not sure why she liked it so much (I think I'll try peanut butter Play Doh next time).

Also, what are some good meals and snacks your kids like?  We have a menu that lasts us about 2.5 days before we start repeating.  We need some fresh ideas!

Don't be afraid to leave a novel for a comment with all your grand ideas.  I would LOVE it. :)

Ummm...can you please share any ideas that people give you with me?? I am so bored during the day b/c of the dumb weather and I just don't know how to entertain Lincoln! I usually have to go to some kind of store every single day just to get out of the house.

And the meals are still a struggle too.

haha have you noticed that I stalk your recipe blog all the time for food? Another one I love is ourbestbites.com. They are coming out with a cookbook through Deseret Book (but it's cheaper on Amazon) this month. I haven't had a failure from a recipe through them. Oliver just eats what we do. I do need to include more veggies in his diet, but seeing them in the diaper is just too much for this pregnant lady! For breakfast I've noticed that eggs hold him longer than other foods. I'll give him 2 eggs and a half a piece of toast. Usually with cheese in them. Or French toast, pancakes, cereal with milk, and usually a half a banana or a clementine orange before any of those other foods, so he can eat while I prepare. For lunches we usually have leftovers or a peanut butter sandwich. He loves beans, re-fried, black bean salsa (1 can seasoned black beans, 1 can drained whole kernal corn, 1 can green chilies, 2 tomatoes diced, some lime...spices. Good hot on a tortilla with cheese and sour cream, or cold on chips), Dominican beans. He also loves Mac & Cheese of all sorts. Our homemade is usually just a white sauce with melted cheese and extra pepper. A quick alfredo sauce you just warm up a can of evap. milk and then melt 1.5 cups parmesan cheese in it. Then I throw in some chicken and veggies and serve it over baking powder biscuits. He loves cheese sticks and animal crackers usually. A little bit of everything really. It definitely helps to make leftovers of dinner to have an easy lunch the next day. And we always have lots of fruit on hand.

As far as games, at about a year Oliver LOVED his swing. We can't really get to it now because of the snow, but we just got him one of those little tykes swings. He also really liked button toys that made noise. He couldn't do all of the manipulations that some of the 12 month toys required, but he could do buttons and loved it. His My Pal Scout was a winner too. He still loves him and now understands the songs to play and dance along. We did lots of walking around pointing to things too. He just soaked up the world. Now he just tries to mess up the world! ;) His shape sorter has been a winner and has recently become his favorite toy. He also really liked puppets at that age (still does, but he just wants them to eat his finger instead of laughing at them).

These next few months are really fun, as Oliver is so much more of a little person than a baby now. Words start coming, but even more he understands so much of what we say, and he loves imitation, funny faces, putting things in things (seriously a straw box and some Lego's kept him enthralled for about an hour a day until the box just got too bent that I threw it away). He's also always loved dancing, and now he instigates it with a little "da da" while he starts dancing. Chasing has also been a favorite game of his.

He also loves looking out the window and watching cars drive by/people walk by. Really convenient as we get a good rush twice a day with the school around the corner. He's really started loving books these last few months too (or gokas, as he calls them).

Hopefully something helps. He's pretty good at keeping himself entertained with his toys just looking at them and now playing with them. Or just bringing them to me so we can "play" with them. Now it's more play, but it used to just be a big mess.
