One Week

Here are some snapshots as our first week as a family of four!

11-23-2018 When asked if he wanted to be a shepherd or a wiseman for the nativity he responded "I'm going to be a shark."
11-15-2018 Maylee to Mom-"How come you're fancy?" Daxton-"Because she's an old lady." Mikayla-"You're not considered an old lady until you have beehive hair like Grammy."
11-3-2018 Grandad said Nana didn't like fires and you said "How could anyone not like fires?!"
11-2-2018 "My pants keep sneaking in my bum crack."
9-18-2018 After finding out boys ask girls to marry them he said "Well I don't even wanna think about it."
9-18-2018 "When it's Christmas I wanna get a real gun. Even when I'm still a kid."
6-18-2018 After hearing that having babies was hard work he told Mom "Maybe you should ask Jesus for no more babies for our family."
6-8-2018 When he went to a prenatal appointment with Mom he saw the female anatomy poster on the wall and asked "Mom why is there a picture of a dead tree?"
5-12-2018 When asked what Daddy does-"Work". What Mommy does-"Naps."
4-26-2018 After he said he was done packing for a sleepover at Grandad and Nana's house I asked him if he packed unders. "No." Jammies? "No." Boots? "No." An outfit for tomorrow? "No." Then what did you pack? "Two blankies, a bag and my chainsaw."
4-15-2018 After telling him he always poops a ton his response was "That's because I eat sand."
3-30-2018 "Mom I hope I could have real imaginary friends that come to me and talk by themselves."
2-28-2018 When asked if he sang in primary he replied "I sing with my mouth but my lips don't move."
2-11-2018 Describing a group picture they took in primary he said "The big kids were there too and it was like a BIG pile of humans!"

11-6-2017 On our morning walk he was arguing with Maylee over whether birds toot. Maylee said only horses and dogs toot, but he said octopi and birds toot, too.
10-19-2017 "I want to go on the mountain with Grandad and Nana and look for bears. I will take my gun to scare them away."
10-9-2017 While at family prayer he declared "There's two people missing to make a circle!"
9-12-2017 "I love home preschool. It makes me happy. A LOT of happy!"

8-18-2017 "Mom if I eat my food without ketchup it tastes like hospital food." Mom-How do you know what hospital food tastes like? Daxton "Like BAD stuff."
7-13-2017 "Maya is growing up bigger like bigger than this house."

6-5-2017 "Pretend you are mom and I am dad and we have no kids because our kids are in jail. Because we like them in jail."

4-4-2017 "The mud is hurting my eyes. I open them and it hurts. I close them and it hurts and I open them again and it's still hurting." (While covered in mud)
3-30-2017 Dustin sprayed down the powder dirt he was playing in the day before and when he came out to play in it and saw it was sprayed down he yelled "UGH NOOOOO! The dirt is already GONE! I don't want the dirt already like this!"
3-28-2017 When he was told the way something was going to happen he said, "That's not a deal."
3-27-2017 After I told him he couldn't have pizza at Costco for dinner he said, "You're a mean mommy."
3-25-2017 While Maylee was eating popcorn he said, "I don't like the smell of Belle Belle's popcorn in hers mouth."
3-15-2017 "I look like a Dad, but I'ms just a kid." (While feeling Maya a bottle).
3-9-2017 "I remember dat girl's name! It's Maylee!"
2-7-2017 He came out of the room where Maya was sleeping and said "Maya is awake now. Sorry about that."
1-11-2017 Maylee asked if he wanted to play getting married with her and he said "No thank you. I'm hammering." Maylee-"But look how pretty I am!" Daxton-No thanks. I'm hammering."
12-15-2016 Every morning when he comes into our room he says "It's morning time!"
12-15-2016 Pointing to his chest he said "Maya has hippos (nipples) like me!"
12-13-2016 While playing superhero- "Mine powers are broken. Maybe I ask Dad to fix them when he gets home."
11-21-2016 "My girlfriend is scared of spiders."
10-20-2016 Pointing to his boots "Dese my tenny boots" (like tennis shoes, but boots instead).
9-22-2016 "Hi! Mine's name is Howdy."
9-14-2016 The girls were playing Barbies and he said "Mom I wanna play boy things."

11-22-2018 "Ants can never die if you pull them apart they stay alive. Eventually if you pull them apart they die."
11-15-2018 Maylee to Mom "How come you're so fancy?" Daxton-"Because she's an old lady." Mikayla-"You're not considered an old lady until you have beehive hair like Grammy."

8-21-2018 When asked what she did on the bus she said she was "shitty chatty with Kinzie the whole time."
7-5-2018 While playing Barbies you asked Nana what the tag said and she told you "Barbie". You said "That's my Barbie's name!"
6-21-2018 Holding at a bug "Oh man! I just broke its leg off and I didn't want just a leg!"

6-5-2018 "I have warts all over my mouth. Lots of them!"

1-24-2018 "Mom where does George Washington live?" After being told he had been dead a long time she said "WHAT?!?! I had NOOOOO idea!"
12-22-2017 In her prayer "I hope Christmas can be super fun and not just a couple of things."

10-3-2017 "Why do moms and dads sleep together?"
9-29-2017 "Sissy do you want to pick tomato worms?" Mikayla declined and she said "That's because you're not a boy girl."
9-21-2017 "I don't understand baby Spanish."
8-21-2017 Mikayla read a sign that said "Be your own kind of beautiful." Maylee declared "My beauty is mud and jewelry."
6-19-2017 While pointing her middle finger in the air she said "Excuse me! Who wants to go to Circle K for my birthday?!"
6-6-2017 "Did you know that Grandad and Nana are your Mom and Dad?"
5-24-2017 While walking home she pointed at a shrine of the Virgin Mary and said, "Those things are a lady standing in a toilet. I don't know why she does that."
5-5-2017 Nana-"There's a lot of Cinco de Mayo going on in that store." Maren-"A lot of Bud Light going out of that store." Maylee-"Mostly just bugs. I saw moths and I don't know what bug light is." Nana-"Ummmm...it's bugs that light up in the dark." Maylee-"Oh. I know now!"
4-4-2017 "Mom I just accidentally bit my toe and made it bleed. Sorry."
2-27-2017 "Are all clothes supposed to have rips in them?"
2-7-2017 While holding a moth that was dying she said, "I think it's having a baby or something."
1-7-2017 She held her finger out with something on it and tells Mikayla "Look in your belly button! There's these little treasures!"
1-1-2017 She asked if she could sleep on the stairs and when we told her it was too hard she said "You just put a blankie on the hard part!"
12-30-2016 When talking about what a funeral is we tell her it's where people go to pay their respects and say a final goodbye and she added "And to CRY!"
12-29-2016 When Mikayla was teaching her about the resurrection and Maylee said " That's kinda boring that story is."
12-19-2016 When asked what Christmas was about she shouted "SANTA!"
12-17-2016 Singing a goodnight song-"We listen to our mom and dad like Jesus listened to His mom and dad, Mary and Jonah."
12-16-2016 "Mommy and Daddy horses check on their babies by smelling their poop." Grandad asked what they can tell by smelling their poop and she said "I guess you just don't understand about horses, Grandad."
11-30-2016 While in the bath-"Wow the water is warmy and is tickling my bum!"
11-23-2016 "I have to go poops and I fee like it's going to be a really owie one! I felt sad for a little bit, then when it came out I didn't feel sad anymore."
12-18-2016 While hugging Nana..."Your boobies squished me!"
11-16-2016 While living at Glen and Dixie Kartchner's house-"I don't like this house, but I like the neighborhood."
11-16-2016 "When you're sick you watch lots of movies and stay in the same jammies all day."
11-9-2016 "Text them and say I am so happy and it's the best day in my life and thank you. I am the beautifulest. That's all."
11-8-2016 While talking to Grandad she told him he could come over for Christmas and "play in the snow, watch movies, eat popcorn, and have Dr. Pepper."
10-20-2016 When asked if she only got one thing from Santa what it would she like she said, "Make-up. But if I only got one thing from Santa I would cry."
9-16-2016 While all wet and muddy-"I love the way I am!"
9-12-2016 Talking to her grasshoppers in a bug cage she said "Okay grasshoppers. Here's the deal. If you fight you don't get to watch a movie, but if you don't fight you can watch a movie. Got it?"
9-7-2016 "I like all my sunbeam teachers, but some of them have scary faces."
8-27-2016 I went to check on her in bed and she was crouched up with her face planted into the pillow. I asked if she was okay and she said "Oh yeah. I just have a lot of really big sticky boogies!"

6-23-2016 The kids were playing cats and she kept saying "Get in your glitter box!"
5-29-2016 "Dad I have something to tell you. Maren had an accident and made a fluffy pancake." Oh yeah? What did she do with it? "She ATE it!" I bet you would've eaten it. "No it's her problem."

3-18-2016 After seeing the UPS delivery lady she says "That lady really sells a lot of boxes for hers work!"

12-22-2015 When singing cowboy songs with Grandad she asks "Grandad why don't your glasses have any legs (they didn't have earpieces)?"

10-9-2015 While playing your dolls were fighting and you said "Girls! Stop it right now!"

9-30-2015 "I'm trying to get my skirt out of my bum." Mikayla tells you "It's called a wedge wedge."
9-21-2015 I was taking our sheets off our bed to wash and Maylee asked what I was doing so I told her I was going to wash them. Very matter of fact she asks "Oh. Cuz you pee pee in the bed?"
9-21-2015 "Daxton's a tooter bum and I'm a pee bum."

8-27-2015 When asked how preschool was she said "It was a little bit hard for me. The toys are hard for me."

8-19-2015 Maylee talking on her play phone (calculator) says "Hi Huck (the girls nickname for Dustin) how's work going? Lisa's (my nickname) taking me to school."
8-12-2015 I told Mikayla we should ask Nana and Auntie Maren to save box tops for her school and Maylee says "I ask Grandad and Uncle Jake to save them for mine school?"

6-26-2015 While I was cleaning the bathroom before her birthday party she asks what I'm doing? When I tell her I'm cleaning the bathroom for her party she asks "We having my party in da bafroom?"
6-14-2015 After the pediatrician looked in her ears and told her she had a butterfly in them Maylee says "I have a butterfly in my ear. It's my best friend EVER!"
6-7-2015 When asked what she learned in nursery she said "Song and snacks and BUBBLES!"
5-21-2015 In her prayers she said "Thank you for my birdie blankie that Mom got out of the dishwasher (washing machine)."

5-21-2015 While sitting on the counter helping make dinner she pulls her finger out of her diaper and says "Look, Mom! I got all the dirt off my bum!"

3-9-2015 I asked her if she wanted to get fancy after her bath and she started crying and saying "NOOOOOO!!! I don't want one fancy! NOOOO!" Then she decided to wear "mine fancy clothes." Princess pajamas.

12-6-2014 She is really into daddies, mommies and babies as a way to describe big, medium and small for everything. I had made her a mommy and a baby pancake for breakfast and her blessing on the food went like this: "Heavenly Father bess baby one and Mommy one. Jesus Christ, amen."
Fall 2014 When she would come tattle about something Mikayla was doing I'd tell her to "nicely ask Sissy to stop." She would go to Mikayla and say "Nicely STOP!"

10-16-2014 (Saying family prayer after we watched a movie as a family) "Dank doo (thank you) for show (movie). Mommy show, Daddy show, Sisssy show, Daden (Daxton) show. Amen."

10-26-2017 She told us she had baked potato chips for school lunch, but that she liked regular ones better. When told that baked were supposed to be healthier she said "No wonder they're really not that good!"
10-3-2017 She asked for ear muffs for Christmas "so I won't have to hear anything while I read."
8-13-2017 "It's hard to smile when you're not happy." (When being told to smile for a picture)
8-13-2017 "Girls do all the work and boys just sit there and watch and tell you how good the food is."
5-29-2017 Doing scripture study she taught "There were 10 leprechauns and only 1 leopard said 'thank you'."
2-27-2017 After seeing a lot of brownies were gone she said, "Looks like you guys had date night!"
2-3-2017 "I'm pretty sure Grandpa's job in heaven is to watch over his family and see if we're doing good things or bad things and then report back to Heavenly Father."

7-25-2016 I couldn't find something and Mikayla said "Maybe you saw something that wasn't there because 'I hear things that aren't there all the time!'"
7-3-2016 When asked what she learned in church "You know I went through the whole long boring lesson and now I can't remember a thing!"
7-2-2016 "Remember when I was eating chicken salad and Grandad said 'Let's go to Cave of Wonders (drive through car wash)?'" Nana: "I can't believe you remember what you were eating." Mikayla: "Food is always my main memory. I love food!!!"
6-15-2016 "Evy camps out in her poopy diaper like I camp out on the potty sometimes."
6-1-2016 After bringing me me a fabric pencil case all excited she asks what the tag says. I tell her it says "made in China". She says totally devastated "OH MAN! I thought it was made out of China!"
5-24-2016 When asked how her trip to go check on the garden was she said, "All we did was walk around it. I think it was just a trick to get me to exercise."
5-14-2016 "I'm so sweaty even my undies are sweaty!"
5-1-2016 When we asked why the kids have so much energy she said "Because we eat SO much food!"
4-20-2016 She asked what year I was born and when I told her 1986 she said "I didn't know there were any years that didn't start with 2000!"

4-8-2016 When asked what her favorite zoo animal is she says "A peacock, but I like libraries WAY better."
3-14-2016 While playing realtor she said moves can be hard on kids and these are the things you have to do to help them. You need to be calm, focused, ready, healthy, smiling, excited, and active."
3-14-2016 "I have something I'm really wondering about. I thought Pocahontas died a long time ago, but we saw her at Disneyland and I'm confused."
3-8-2016 "A Reese's is all you need to make your life perfect."
3-2-2016 "My tummy was feeling a little yucky, but then I had a juice burp and now it feels better."

1-12-2016 "What animal does chicken come from?" I asked her what she thinks and she said totally seriously "A cow."
1-8-2016 After mentioned that Mikayla said she'd worn her pants for 3 days already she says "Yep. I put them back in my drawer and wear them again. I recycle them."
12-16-2015 "When I have a baby I'm going to send my husband to Costco for pizza and Molinitos for refried beans."
12-3-2015 "I'm the police that makes sure every single boy goes in jail."
11-24-2015 You said Nana buying chips for us was cheating. "You can't jip the work to someone else!"
11-18-2015 "I'm glad I don't have long privates so I don't get pee all over the place."
11-18-2015 "Maylee you're so smart! You're almost as smart as me! Well, no, you're not that smart."
11-12-2015 She made a pasta necklace at school and asks "Tomorrow can we cut up my necklace and cook the noodles for dinner cuz they are my favorite kind!"

11-11-2015 After yelling something she said "OOPS! I guess that had an exclamation mark at the end!"
11-9-2015 To me she says "Maybe you should have gone to college to learn Dairy Queen so you would never have any problems with it and you'd get it for free."
10-29-2015 She was telling her Dad the life cycle of a pumpkin and I said she was going to be a plant expert like her Dad. She said "I think I'm just gonna stick to being the ruler of Mikayla's imagination for now."

10-22-2015 While singing a song where she spelled a bunch of words she said there was a girl named "Spellalena" and that girl spelled her name "s-e-m-e-n".
10-22-2015 "Mom did you know uni means one? That means I'm a uni-headed girl."
10-15-2015 "Please help us to know that there is a white road with commandments and a black road. Help us to choose the white one. Help us to choose the gate for the white road. Thank you for all your hard work in making the earth. It’s better than a piece of art. Some people might not think that, but I do."
10-15-2015 "Can there be more than one of the ladies who say 'Please leave a message after the beep?' Because that's what I want to be when I grow up."
