Our day was just our level of excitement...low-key and relaxed, but we spent time together and that's all that mattered!
The morning started out with red, white and blue pancakes. Can I just mention that Maylee ate ALL three pancakes. She is amazing.
Then Mom insisted on pictures in our patriotic colors before everyone turned into grouches for the day...which happened not long after picture time.
We've been trying to explain to Mikayla what the 4th of July is all about and when we told her it was America's birthday she wanted to know if we were going to be making a birthday cake for America. Sounded like a great idea to us!
After a delicious BBQ rib lunch and naps it was time for our birthday cupcakes. Mikayla explained to us that she had to eat America's cupcakes because America didn't have a mouth. Can't argue that logic!
These two were so funny hamming it up together at the table. They'd sit there "hugging" each other saying "ahhhhh" over and over again while giggling.
After a swimming adventure and dinner at Nicos it was time for our sparkler and popper celebration.
The poppers were a hit for both. Mikayla liked the sparklers until she burned herself. Maylee hated them.
Then the girls were off to bed. Dustin and I stayed up for fireworks and woke Mikayla up for them. After a couple of minutes of waiting she asked us if she could go back to bed. Yep. We're pretty much party animals!
