Snow Day!

Anyone who lives where it really snows please don't make fun of our snow day.  We really enjoyed it while it lasted!
I couldn't figure out how to let Maylee play in the snow without getting sopping wet and the Cozy Coupe was the perfect solution!  The girls played in it for about 20 minutes, then Mikayla asked me if it'd be okay if they took naps.  I think she enjoys snow as much as her Mom!

Naptime

My girls have this amazing ability to wake up exactly when the other falls asleep.  I don't know how it's possible, but they are experts!  I've been trying really hard to not get frustrated that I never get anything done and try to enjoy the one-on-one time instead.  After all, they only want to build blanket houses (forts) and play pat-a-cake with me for so long so I'd better embrace it!

Maylee and I had fun taking pictures after she woke up from her nap (which for the record was roughly 3 minutes after Mikayla fell asleep).

This is Maylee's goofy new face.  She does it when she is trying to be funny or is pleased with something.  It makes me giggle every time.

In case you're wondering about Maylee's fashion designer her name is Mikayla.  She's great.  Call her up-you won't be disappointed!

I found this article the other day that I fell in love with.  It really puts into words my feelings about taking pictures (and why I take so many...and plaster them all over my house).

This was my favorite part:

"Photographs can change your moods.  Alter your perspective. Remind you how things really are and WHO people really are.  They can make you feel and see truth.

Do you print and display (them) in your home so those moments can work their magic in your very average day?

Your hard drive is waiting for you.  There’s magic that needs to be released.

Your family will thank you.
You’ll be a nicer person.
And make the world a better place.
Who knew such power existed in a small piece of paper?"

Here is the link to the whole article.  I loved it and would totally recommend reading it!

Heels and Shades

It was her father's idea for her to wear these to church.  No, she did not make it very far before claiming her feet hurt.  Heels are just not the same with pantyhose as part of the deal.
She was pretty tickled about getting to wear them, though!
Don't these colors just make you happy?

I Have a Sister?

A couple of weeks ago Mikayla discovered that she has a sister!  It only took 6 1/2 months for her to figure it out!

The two of them are best buds now.  They have figured out what sisters are for-giggling with each other.  All they have to do is look at each other and they both start laughing.

It makes me smile and melts my heart to watch them together.  They adore each other.  There aren't many things that warm my heart more than watching the love between the two of them.  They somehow understand each other through the different laughs each of them has.  It is amazing to watch {and listen to!} them when they are together.

Their playing usually starts with Mikayla telling me what Maylee wants to do, what she wants to play with and where she should sit to make it all happen (naturally she should decide since she is the oldest).
Mikayla (our picture hater) is constantly telling me that Maylee wants to take pictures with her.  Of course, I am quick to comply!
Playing office
Driving in the car
Sitting next to each other-a big step in progress!
Playing doctor.  According to Dr. Mikayla "Maylee you lookin' real good".
This face pretty much sums up how Maylee looks whenever Mikayla requests she do something totally random.
A lifetime of friendship is only beginning!

I had to add this one because Maylee's cheeks are just beyond awesome!

Happy to be 3!

Our little gal is 3!  She has been looking forward to her birthday for ever and it was so fun to finally be able to make some of her wishes a reality.

The morning started off with surprise doughnuts from Dad.  She couldn't have been more pleased!

She wanted a princess cake with "probably no nuts" for her birthday so that's what she got.  Of course our over-the-top obsessed with hair child wanted to hold the Barbie's hair all day long.  She is so crazy!

We gave her tons of choices of what she could do for her birthday, but her consistent request was to play with her office stuff and watch a movie at Nana's house so that's what we did.

While we were getting ready for her party she dressed up and then we ended up with a random dance party in the backyard.  I was working on dinner and when I walked out it seriously looked like the circus had shown up in our yard.
Then on to the circus rides...

Later in the evening some family and friends came over for a little party.
We ate beans and cheese, per Mikayla's request, then played some awesome last minute party games.
Pin the hair on Rapunzel.
Toss Pascal into the frying pan.
Then gifts and cake!
Mikayla freaked out about the sparklers, of course.
Then she freaked out because the Barbie from her cake only had one leg.  I sure forgot to prep her about that one.  Oops.

I thought it was the perfect little night because we got to spend it with people who love Mikayla and support us as we try to raise her the best we can.  We are always very grateful for so much love and support for our family.

As I was tucking her into bed tonight she asked me if she was was 2 anymore and when I told her she wasn't she asked if she was 3.  When I said yes she asked me very concerned, "What happened to my 2?"  Love that girl!

We sure are lucky to have this funny, loving, dramatic, hair-obsessing princess in our home.  She keeps life fun for all of us!
