Sharing

Sharing with your sister isn't as easy {or peaceful} as it might seem.  But, as our Dad always says-"We're working on it!"

Let It Go

Let it go.  I have been trying to make that my motto when it comes to being a wife and mom.  I am a perfectionist by nature.  I constantly strive for perfection.  A clean house, a well planned routine, kids with matching clothes, a tasty dinner on the table, a perfectly crisp picture, well behaved kids, the list could go on and on...those things are important to me.  It's just me-I like things done and I like them done right.  As a mom many of those things are impossible to accomplish all the time.  I've had to learn to LET IT GO.  Maybe I should saying I'm LEARNING to let it go. It's okay.  It really is.  You see, the thing that made me decide that it's okay to let it go is that at the end of the day my family goes to sleep happy.  They are loved and they love back.  Not much else is really important to me.

We strive for the best, yes.  We strive for the best in the things that matter most.  I'm learning to stop beating myself up for letting the rest go.  Really, not many of those things really matter in the big picture anyway.

I saw this picture the other day and it was perfect for me.

Let it go and let God take control.

In other words...

Sunday

We love Sundays and chillin at home!
Wintery cuteness!
Mmm...rice cereal!  My favorite holiday treat!
Sitting up on her own once in a while.
I'd attempt sitting on my own when this was the alternative, too!
Christmas lights on the end of Mikayla's bed was the best idea ever!  Dustin put them up for her and they are on a timer from 6-8 at night.  She has to go to bed early if she wants to see her lights before they turn off.  Brilliance!  Bed parties to wait for her lights to come on are a common occurrence.  The look of excitement on her face each time they turn on is amazing!
Speaking of looks of surprise...
So grateful for the Sundays we get to enjoy together right now.

Santa Baby!

Mikayla asked Santa for paper and diamonds this year.
Paper has been her standard answer when asked what she wants for Christmas.  She always says she wants "some paper I could hold in mine hand-like a notepad!"
Nanny Jill introduced her to the idea of diamonds.  I wish I had gotten a picture of the shocked look on Santa's face when she said that.
Sister pictures before Santa (because that's what we do when we actually get dressed in decent clothes!)...
Couldn't resist including this outtake!
So excited for Christmas with these cuties!

Breathing

After a month of mayhem for most of November we have been eating up a little bit of breathing time in the last week or so.  It's been wonderful to slip back into the "doing what we do everyday" routine.  It's what we like best!  Here's a glimpse into everyday life at our house lately.
Story time like at the library.
Rides on "heads".
Setting up office on any flat surface that can be labeled as a desk.
Happy girl after having colds for most of the month and finally feeling better!
A future Ensign poster child.
Picking out her own outfits these days.  Bet you could have never guessed!
Favorite new pastime-"making water"
I don't know how Maylee gets to the napkins every time I put her in the Bumbo, but she finds a way!  Mikayla is never hesitant to join in the fun.
A little one-on-one time with Mom and Dad while big sis was sleeping over with Nana and Grandad.
Mikayla decided she needed to crawl in Maylee's bed and sing her "two songs and then she go to sleep" (after Maylee had taken a 3 hour nap).
Total perfection.  Sleeping chubbiness.  I love it.
Making muffins with Barbie.
Mikayla feeding Maylee with her doll's bottle.  I missed getting a picture of the part where Maylee was about to gag to death.
Home.  I love our happy life!
