Picture Dump

Life has been a bit hectic lately and I haven't had much time to post, but I figured that I'd add some pictures from the last few weeks to satisfy the grandmas that keep asking when I'm going to put more pictures up again. ;) I know they don't mean pictures of Dustin and I, so here is an overload of Mikayla pictures from over the last few weeks. She has been more and more fun lately. Her smile is just amazing! It makes us so happy! It seems like in the last week or so she has "grown-up" and seems more like a little girl than a baby. She has found discovered her voice in the last couple of weeks and screams/squeals/talks SO loud ALL the time. Way fun! At her six month check-up she was only 12 lbs 6 oz so the doctor has us feeding her a ton of formula and baby food to fatten her up. At a check-up 2 weeks later she was up to 14 lbs. and she has only gotten chunkier in the last two weeks. It is so weird to have a chunky food lovin' kid all of a sudden, but she is sure fat and happy! She'll be 7 months tomorrow!
I can't figure out how to do this blogger stuff so the most recent are first. I can't seem to move the pictures, but the first picture is of her new stylish sunglasses with a strap to keep them on. They make her look like she is blind, but she loves them and it keeps them on. They are awesome! The second picture is our "Purple People Eaters" picture...thanks to my Mom for our matching purple shirts and Nonna for Mikayla's adorable dress!
We are now staying in an apartment above Dustin's parent's barn for a while because Dustin's "Summer" job with the Coronado National Memorial finally started and we are enjoying time at Mammy and Pappy's house.
Mikayla started sitting up last Wednesday! She thinks she is so cool when she sits up, but it requires major concentration on her part. She spreads her legs super far apart and stick her bottom out really far to balance herself.
Mikayla finally got to meet her Grandma Hancock for the first time last week...
Bath time with the cousins! Mikayla loved Mammy's huge tub and getting to play with Garth and Colt. She squealed the whole time to make sure she was not being ignored.
Dustin, Mikayla and I took a quick vacation to Pinetop for a job Dustin had at the Snowflake Temple and while we were there we stopped by a boutique that had tons of tutus and bows. Mikayla fell in LOVE with them and would get so excited every time she saw a tutu and had the hugest smile on her face. She is such a girl! When we came home, Nanny Jill had this surprise for her. It is so cute!

Love the smiles!
Daddy's girl through and through!

In Love

I am in love. I am in love with my life. In love with my husband. My beautiful daughter. My family. My trials that make me stronger. The talents God has given me. My dreams, yearnings and aspirations for the future that give me hope. I love the life that my Heavenly Father has blessed me with. I am in love.
I don't know how to express the love and gratitude that fills my heart right now. Last night as I went to bed and gave Dustin a hug and kiss good-night, I thought life couldn't get any sweeter than in that moment. My heart was so full of love for the man that I want to spend eternity with. I woke early this morning and fed Mikayla and as I got up to put her back in bed, she immediately fell into a deep sleep on my shoulder. Tears filled my eyes as I felt her breathing and felt her heavy arms resting on my shoulders and realized that my life is sweeter than I could have ever imagined. I wanted nothing more than to enjoy that moment forever and tried to figure out a way that I could carry her in to where Dustin was sleeping and not wake them and somehow keep myself awake in the wee morning hours so I could snuggle with her and have Dustin by my side...sharing my happiness with the two people that are my life. I have been so blessed.

Sometimes...

life gets a little bit hectic. You just get frazzled. You really need some good old R&R time, especially on a cloudy, rainy day. Your feet are killing you from a long day's work...
...and you think a day at the salon where you could sit back, relax and let someone else pamper you for a while seems like the perfect solution to life's problems.
That's what I'm talking about.
It's hard work to be so beautiful, but somebody's gotta do it.

OshKosh B'gosh

Gotta love OshKosh. It's like a blast from the past from when we were young and they just have the best overalls! I'm just sad they don't make more outfits for little girls. Thank you, Kohl's clearance rack for this new favorite find. :)

La-la-la-la!

Dear Grandad,

Thanks for teaching me this new trick. I really love to do it and I've been trying to do it by myself all day long today. It really makes "singing" a lot more fun.

Love,
Mikayla

P.S. Dustin isn't home to edit the video and I have no clue how to do it so you get the long version. It takes a while to buffer, but should work ok once you upload it. Sorry. :)

One fish, two fish...

My Dad had work off on Monday and we were informed by the boys that they were going fishing on Monday morning and that us girls would be going with them. :) Off we went to Grandpa's pond and it turned out to be a really fun morning. The weather was perfect and the pond was so pretty.
If you're going to go fishing, you gotta do it in style! I love how you can see our reflections in her glasses.
Dad and Dustin were a little competitive about who was catching the most fish, but it ended up in a 5-5 tie, which is a good thing!
Dustin showing off his prize fish (as Grandpa would say, "Dumb Bass #1")
Dad and his catch (Dumb Bass #2)
Auntie Maren also caught a fish, but it got away before she could unhook it (Dumb Bass #11)
As for Mikayla and I, we weren't quite so successful, but we didn't last very long, either. Mammy came to see Mikayla while we were in town and DeeDee took over the fishing pole and enjoyed it more than I would have, but Mikayla and I made a great team while it lasted. :)
Mikayla seeing a fish for the first time and trying to pet it as anyone would do.
Not sure which number this Dumb Bass was...
Thanks, Grandpa, for letting us use your pond!
To end the day, a cute picture taken on the ride home (taken right before her major temper tantrum!).

Flower Power!

We did tie dye on Monday for Family Home Evening and Mikayla's onesie turned out awesome! We still need to get a picture of Dustin's shirt and mine is currently in the remaking, but enjoy some pictures of the flower power child in the meantime!
