Chunky Monkey?

Missy Mae (aka "Button"/"Stinky") had her 9 month check-up today and she is filling out quite nicely.  At 6 1/2 months she was in the 1st percentile for weight and now she is in the 50th percentile!  She is 18 lbs 15 oz (up from 12 lbs 6 oz at 6 months).  She is still on the shorter side with a big head (98th percentile in the head department)...I wonder where she gets those genes from?

She is getting WAY too much personality and I am thinking we are going to be in BIG trouble pretty soon as one of her favorite things to do is clench her fists tight, throw her arms straight down and let out a big squeal when she wants attention or is upset (no comments on where those genes come from, thank you very much).  Talk about a busy body.  Mikayla is into EVERYTHING and is constantly looking around and whipping her head from side to side to see what she can grab or what everyone around her is doing.  I swear, she can remember where the tiniest little crumb is 30 minutes after she dropped it and will go back looking for it (did I mention she LOVES to eat?!).  She isn't crawling yet, but she finds a way of getting things by doing the splits and leaning over until her tummy reaches the ground and leans as far as possible so she can grab what she's looking for.  Blowing raspberries/playing motorboat is still rocking her little world and she does it constantly, spraying anything within 3 feet with all her slobber.  My Dad is always telling her to "Say it, don't spray it, Sister!" Headbands are beginning to be a thing of the past...she rips them off as quick as I can put them on.  It's kind of sad.  She says "Da-da" now and can pretty much get whatever she wants from her Dad when she says it.  I love seeing the grin on his face when she says "Da-da".  Melts my heart!  And, of course, we still think she is as cute as ever!

Here's the picture overload for the week...

Conclusions

In our free time Mikayla and I have come to some serious conclusions about life and we thought we'd share everything we've learned for the benefit of our fellow blog readers. :)

1. Everything is better when Daddy comes home.
2. Smiling for the camera = optional.  Cute hats from Lali = essential.
3. Long hair is better than short.
4. 2 teeth are better than 1.
5. Dirt is for boys.

6. Blowing raspberries is not rude.  It's cute.
7. Crawling is overrated.
8. Bigger is better.
9. Laughing your way through life is the only way to go.
10. Grandparents and big hats are the best.
11. If you are going to sleep in Wal-Mart, do it in style.
 12. Everyone needs a friend.
 13. Lastly, (and because I love this picture from Grandpa's pond!) always look to the light!

#1 Fan!

I decided Mikayla needed a cute little outfit to wear to her Uncle Dillon's football games and with the help of my Mom, a family friend and my aunt on a random crafty night we were able to make the outfit just like I had in mind. We made a super cute tutu in his school colors put Dillon's number on a onesie and on the back of a jacket for when it gets cold. I love the way it turned out!
She is always so pleased with herself!
Mikayla LOVED the game! She screamed (literally screamed) until the 3rd quarter and was SO excited about everything that was happening.

She just couldn't make it to the end of the game...around the 3rd quarter she'd had enough and tore her headband off her head and wore it as a necklace, zonked out and snuggled with her Pappy for the rest of the game. The Tigers ended up winning 67-0 and we are pretty sure it's because of Mikayla's great cheering! :) Go Uncle Dillon!

Sunday Cuteness

Dustin took this adorable picture of Mikayla on Sunday and I am in love. Our little chunk fit in a 12 month outfit! I can't believe how big she is getting all of a sudden. Fat and happy. What can you do? :)

First Tooth

Mikayla's first tooth made its grand appearance last week! She'd been fighting an earache and had been so whiny for the last couple of weeks and I was about to lose my mind! Poor girl was getting a tooth to go along with being sick. :( Now she is the happiest little kiddo! Please excuse the corny illustration on the picture, but it was necessary for scrapbook purposes to show where the tooth was because it is tiny (maybe you can pretend you see it now, too!) and she did NOT want a picture taken so this was the best we could do.

I Like to Look for Rainbows...

"I like to look for rainbows whenever there is rain and ponder on the beauty of an earth made clean again.
I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain.
I want to be the best I can and live with God again."

Picture Dump

Life has been a bit hectic lately and I haven't had much time to post, but I figured that I'd add some pictures from the last few weeks to satisfy the grandmas that keep asking when I'm going to put more pictures up again. ;) I know they don't mean pictures of Dustin and I, so here is an overload of Mikayla pictures from over the last few weeks. She has been more and more fun lately. Her smile is just amazing! It makes us so happy! It seems like in the last week or so she has "grown-up" and seems more like a little girl than a baby. She has found discovered her voice in the last couple of weeks and screams/squeals/talks SO loud ALL the time. Way fun! At her six month check-up she was only 12 lbs 6 oz so the doctor has us feeding her a ton of formula and baby food to fatten her up. At a check-up 2 weeks later she was up to 14 lbs. and she has only gotten chunkier in the last two weeks. It is so weird to have a chunky food lovin' kid all of a sudden, but she is sure fat and happy! She'll be 7 months tomorrow!
I can't figure out how to do this blogger stuff so the most recent are first. I can't seem to move the pictures, but the first picture is of her new stylish sunglasses with a strap to keep them on. They make her look like she is blind, but she loves them and it keeps them on. They are awesome! The second picture is our "Purple People Eaters" picture...thanks to my Mom for our matching purple shirts and Nonna for Mikayla's adorable dress!
We are now staying in an apartment above Dustin's parent's barn for a while because Dustin's "Summer" job with the Coronado National Memorial finally started and we are enjoying time at Mammy and Pappy's house.
Mikayla started sitting up last Wednesday! She thinks she is so cool when she sits up, but it requires major concentration on her part. She spreads her legs super far apart and stick her bottom out really far to balance herself.
Mikayla finally got to meet her Grandma Hancock for the first time last week...
Bath time with the cousins! Mikayla loved Mammy's huge tub and getting to play with Garth and Colt. She squealed the whole time to make sure she was not being ignored.
Dustin, Mikayla and I took a quick vacation to Pinetop for a job Dustin had at the Snowflake Temple and while we were there we stopped by a boutique that had tons of tutus and bows. Mikayla fell in LOVE with them and would get so excited every time she saw a tutu and had the hugest smile on her face. She is such a girl! When we came home, Nanny Jill had this surprise for her. It is so cute!

Love the smiles!
Daddy's girl through and through!
