The World is Better With "Lellow" Eggs

Thank goodness Dustin is really into coloring eggs and helped get the ball rolling for us in that department.  Mikayla insisted on coloring all her eggs "lellow"-big surprise, right?  When we tried to branch out to blue she dumped the whole cup of dye over.  We learned our lesson and stuck to yellow!
This picture makes me giggle.  First off, the stickers all over his arm courtesy of our sticker queen.  Then, if you'll notice every cup with a spoon in it (and there were more after I took the picture) has one of Dustin's eggs in it.  He gets REALLY into it.  Needless to say, it's a good thing Mikayla was satisfied with one color.  There weren't a lot of free colors to go around.
The "LELLOW" one!!!
Our (mostly Dustin's) masterpieces!

The way we spend our days...

If we're not singing "If You're Happy" ALL day long, then Mikayla is begging for "LAP, LAP" (clap, clap) ALL day long.  It's what we do and we love it.
I'm sad the video turned out so dark when I uploaded it, but you can get the general idea still.  For some reason the color balance kept changing while I was videoing.  Mikayla is OBSESSED with the color yellow and when  we were watching this video and the color balance turned her yellow she was excited.  Way to look on the bright side, I guess!

She recently discovered Dustin's mini Primary Songbook and is in LOVE with it.  She can find the exact page where "If You're Happy" is and lets the world know when she's found her favorite song-"lap, lap".
Here's some more random videos for your viewing pleasure-you'll just have to excuse our lovely singing voices...
"Once There Was a Snowman"
"Popcorn Popping"-not her best performance on this one, but it's the best video we've gotten.

Getting Ready

We're trying to prep Mikayla for her baby sis.
She'll point to my tummy and say "bebe" (baby) and finally says "yeah" when you ask her if she's going to be a big sister or if a baby is going to come to her house.
On Friday morning when I went to get her out of bed this is what I found.
I think she's catching on...Mrs. Bear makes a great baby...

Every girl needs a purse.

We got ready to go to the library the other day and I grabbed my purse on the way out the door.  Mikayla ran back into the house and came running back with her purse.

I can tie my shoes.

Not really, but this chick has finally decided she can put on her own shoes at least.  I'm kind of in love with the wrong foot look.  It makes me smile.  She's pretty proud of herself.

Finishing Touches

Remember this playhouse?
Well, I think it's finally done (I say think because I'm not really sure if Dustin has any more grand plans for it or not).  Dustin's been working on painting it, putting shingles on the roof and putting in a floor for it.  It's pretty awesome.  Especially since everything except the awesome salmon colored paint (which came from the mis-tint bin) was free.
Mikayla randomly came up and started kissing Dustin.  I guess she was really grateful for her new abode.  Next thing we knew she was scratching his back and giving him a neck massage-totally down to business and serious.  We couldn't help but laughing and laughing.  She sure knows how to butter up to her Dad!
I hope Mikayla realizes what a great Dad she has!

Things I'm loving today...

1. This guy.  It's his birthday.  I love him and he loves me, even though my attempt at blueberry muffins this morning was an epic fail.  Still not sure what I did wrong this time around.  He and I get to go on a date tonight.  I can't wait!
Mikayla started crying when we sang "Happy Birthday" to him.  I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is about that song that she hates so much.

2. My "Spring" letters.  I actually finished a craft!
And in case you are fooled into thinking I'm actually creative on my own, here's the link where I stole the idea from...http://www.inspiringcreationsblog.com/2011/04/spring-blocks.html.

3.  Our garden that is actually growing and our caretaker's watering pose.
I don't know how little ones balance for so long like this!  I had fun with the camera so you'll have to forgive me, but there's a bunch of pictures and I couldn't decide which ones to cut because they all make me happy.
4. Mikayla's faces.  She can sure whip 'em out good.

It's a happy life.

Festival of Books

We braved the craziness and went to the Festival of Books this past weekend with Maren.  I don't even know how to describe all that was going on.  There were a gazillion booths with authors signing books, people selling books, people giving away books, activities for kids, and lots and lots of people giving away junk (Mikayla's favorite part).  It really was incredible.  The part that made me happy was to see all the people there (they were estimating 100,000 and it sure seemed like that many!) celebrating books, of all things.  People really do like to read still (either that or they came for the freebies...)!  Dustin and I both said it will be a fun thing to go back to each year as Mikayla gets older and can do more of the activities (there were bunches of science experiments, art projects and all kinds of games and things for kids).  We're sure glad Auntie Maren talked us into going with her (and bringing her camera along)!
Working on an art project with Auntie Maren
Other than the little circus that was there, Mikayla LOVED this huge kaleidoscope.  I think she would've stayed there all day looking in it if there weren't people waiting on her.
Free bag to color from Bookmans!  What would we do without Bookmans?!?
Snack time with the girls.
Mikayla was pretty proud of her Bookmans bag.  Multiple times a day she still loads and unloads all the random fliers and toys we got at the festival.

B-I-N-G-O

We have toddler tunes playing pretty much all the time around here during the day.  Mikayla stands on her little table and dances along.  Her very favorite is "If You're Happy and You Know It", but as long as the tune is cheesy, she loves it.  Yesterday was a little bit traumatic because the CD player broke and the sound on the TV went out when her music was playing on the DVD player.  End of the world for a 2 year-old dancing queen.  We resorted to good 'ol Pandora on the computer.  BINGO popped up on the playlist and reminded me we had a bingo marker to play with.  It was a hit.
Thank you, Dollar Tree.
